We’re celebrating National Pancake Day with fun games, books, and crafts!
Check out these silly books:
Rhinos Don’t Eat Pancakes is a silly book about a rhino who turns up at a little girl’s house after wandering away from the zoo. This book can be paired with zoo activities such as zoo animal matching games or categorizing zoo animals versus pets.
Pancakes for Breakfast also falls under our Wordless Book category, which means it’s great for expressive language practice! “Read” together with your child and take turns describing what is happening on each page. Use sequencing terms to discuss what she does “first, next, and last”.
Games:
Pancake Pile Up is a fun game to work on sequencing while you stack your pancakes to match your card. Be the first to build a stack!
Pretend play:
Play restaurant with play-doh or fake food and practice taking pancake orders. This is a great way to work on social language and auditory memory. If you’re using play-doh, add beads or cotton balls for pancake toppings for additional expressive language descriptions.
